Conference: From Duvalier to Preval: Haiti Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

On 21/22 June 2010 the Institute of the Americas and the David Nicholls Trust held a very useful Conference “From Duvalier to Preval: Haiti Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”. The event covered a whole range of political, cultural and social issues. Click here for the full programme.

The Haiti Support Group actively supported the organisation of the day and took part in a panel on “Reconstruction and the Role of NGOs”on the second day.

The HSG Chair, Christian Wisskirchen, gave a presentation, which analysed the reasons why Haiti has to come to rely so much on a multitude of NGOs for many essential services and took a critical look at the development plan for Haiti underlying the Reconstruction Agency headed up by President Clinton and Prime Minister Bellerive.
