Dear Haiti Watcher,

Our Haiti Support Group AGM will take place on Emancipation Day at 3 p.m. on Sunday 1 August 2021. Please do put this date in your diary and register for the meeting via this link.

Haiti Support Group Annual General Meeting 2021

At this year’s AGM, we will discuss the ongoing unrest in Haiti and how to move forward in solidarity with the people of Haiti. This follows the tragic assassination of Haitian ‘President’ Jovenel Moïse and will be a continuation of conversations started at our Emergency Meeting on Sunday 11 July.

In addition, we will think about ways of celebrating our 30 year anniversary as we move into 2022. As our Exec Member Dr Rachel Douglas has observed, the Haiti Support Group was first established following another major koudeta in Haiti, that of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

The cost to attend the AGM is £5. Please do consider registering for this event as a way of making a small donation to help with the running costs of our group even if you can’t be there on the day. Alternatively, you can make a more substantial donation via this link.

Nominations to the Haiti Support Group Executive Committee

If you would like to become more involved in our work by joining our Executive Committee, please email [email protected] by 12 p.m. on Friday 30th July 2021 at the absolute latest. We ask that you include a short bio (100-150 words), a photo and your motivations for wanting to join us. We will then send out details of confirmed nominees to all registered attendees in time for the AGM.

The following positions are open to election:

HSG CHAIR (one post)

HSG SECRETARY (one post)

HSG TREASURER (one post)

HSG EXEC MEMBER (multiple posts)

Please do share this information anyone who you think might be interested in standing for one of these posts. We’re a very friendly bunch!

Thank you for your continued support.

In solidarity,

Shodona Kettle
Chair of the Haiti Support Group
